Mind-Boggling 3-part pizza and beer Wondershow Extravaganza!
Your generous contributions at the door and at the art auction will go to support two great Vashon Island causes. One is the Vashon Resettlement Committee (www.vashonresettlement.org), who are doing amazing work reaching out to, and assisting Syrian refugee families, and raising funds to resettle refugee families on Vashon. The other is the Islewilde arts and performance festival (www.islewilde.org), a non-hierarchical open artistic play space/temporary intentional community in the woods. Part 1: Monster Drawing Marathon. (Sponsored by Vashon Ace Hardware and Essentials 4 art store) Live interactive spectator sport monster drawing game! Fun! Raucous! Prizes! With awesome tunes spun by DJ TJ, straight from Brooklyn, NY. Part 2: Art Auction. So many incredible pieces are up for auction--including quirky sculptures made out of baby doll parts, paper mâché masterpieces, as well as drawings, paintings and prints by some of your favorite island artists. Part 3: all-star performance cabaret. A rollicking and bizarre mix of clowns, circus acts, puppet shows, spoken word, music, and weird performance art. Performers include: Duo Finelli--a pair of funny slapstick; music and circus ladies, Jawbone Puppet Theater--quirky father/son puppet act; Phoenix Chicken-esoteric clown guru of spoken word; Queen Shmooquan--Modern day oracle, healer of the American people; Glenn Ruckwid--Vashon's own singer songwriter and super-cutie; Matthew "Poki" McCorkle--master mime hoop illusionist; Jason Webley--Iconic Seattle stomping shouting accordion guy; "Sybillish"--mystery performance with Trudy Prescott, Jenessa Hope and/or other performers and poets from Interstice Press; Steven Lipke--Lord help us! Who knows what this entrenched Vashon whackdoodle will do when we let him up on stage; Goatgirl--singer songwriter & strange person; Riley Mae Schumacher--yet another Vashon super cutie with songs & puppets, and last but not least, Doug Skove, our very own bald straight man.
