Position Summary
We are seeking an entrepreneurial-minded General Manager to lead our hotel and retail operations, ensuring an exceptional tenant and guest experience while maintaining strong financial performance. This role is ideal for a dynamic, culture-driven leader with a background in hospitality and/or small business management. Having experience working in a creative environment is a plus. If you can juggle a spreadsheet, a guest’s lastminute request, and a staff karaoke night all at once—this might be the job for you.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Culture: Foster a positive, creative, and guest-centric culture within the team. Inspire, mentor, and support staff to maintain excellence in service—while also making work feel a little less like, well, work.
- Operations Management: Oversee all aspects of lodging operations, including housekeeping, maintenance, reservations and guest services, ensuring efficiency and high standards. Bonus if you can fix a leaky faucet in a pinch. This position is also responsible for the day-to-day manage and oversight of Vashon Village, including tenant relations.
- Financial Oversight: Develop and manage budgets, monitor financial performance, and implement strategies to drive revenue and profitability. Because watching the bottom line is, you know, kind of important.
- Guest Experience: Elevate and personalize the guest experience, maintaining high service standards while integrating elements that reflect the Vashon community. If you’ve ever turned a stranger into a regular, you’re exactly who we need.
- Community Engagement: Act as a brand ambassador, fostering strong relationships with local businesses, artisans, and organizations to enhance the Lodges’ presence on the island. Think of it as networking, but with better scenery.
- Marketing & Sales: Collaborate with ownership and our marketing team to develop creative promotional strategies, optimize occupancy, and enhance guest loyalty. Instagram skills are a plus, but knowing what makes a great story is even better.
- Innovation & Growth: Identify opportunities for new programming, partnerships, and improvements that align with our brand and guest expectations. Got an idea for a llama yoga retreat? We’re listening.
- A hands-on, creative leader who thrives in an entrepreneurial environment.
- Proven experience in hospitality, boutique hotels, small business operations, or the service industry.
- Strong financial acumen, with the ability to manage budgets and drive revenue. • Passion for exceptional guest experiences and a natural ability to connect with people.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with ownership and external partners.
- Experience working in a small-town or close-knit community is a plus (knowing how to wave at every passing car is a bonus skill).
