Spirit Walk-Stained Glass Art
Stained glass artist, K.B. Jones pays tribute to her Vashon Island community, friends and family for enabling her to pursue her dream of being a full time artist. She landed in her Vashon Island stained glass business, Spirit Walk Stained Glass Art, via a circuitous career route of legal counsel, physical education and an intense drive to be self-employed. ''I never could have done this without the support of the whole community,'' she says. ''Thanks to Island friends and their faith in me, I was able to keep going.''
In her own O?Keefe-like simplicity of design, Jones often focuses on animals as a central theme for her work and her commissioned piece offers an exemplary representation. From early dream catchers and feathers to her current large stained glass art pieces, design, preparation and finding the right piece of glass to ?tell the story? requires hours of painstaking planning. ?I look through sheet after sheet after sheet to find the right piece of glass. To make a wonderful piece, you have to have the right glass.? She says it takes two months to prepare and one month to create most pieces.
