About Us

Vashon Island School District serves approximately 1500 students with a rich and varied academic and extracurricular program. There are three schools in the district -- Chautauqua Elementary School, McMurray Middle School and Vashon Island High School -- as well as FamilyLink and StudentLink, which provide alternative learning options for students K-12.

Today, the district has a balanced budget, a five-year strategic plan and strong instructional leadership. In a 2008 random phone survey, the community gave VISD a 70-plus percent approval rating for fiscal management and educational programs; scores that are well above state averages.

Several local organizations, including Partners in Education, Vashon Community PTSA, Vashon Allied Arts, and the Vashon Community Scholarship Foundation contribute generously to support students and the schools.
